Evonik Announces Participation At 2012 Polymers In Medical Applications Conference
Dr. Zhen Zhu, Research and Development Manager of Evonik’s Performance Polymers Business Unit, will give a presentation on Advanced Medical Acrylics at the Polymers in Medical Applications Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada, on March 2, 2012.
The focus of the presentation, “Advanced Medical Acrylics – Acrylic-based Multipolymer Medical Grade with Antimicrobial Effect,” will highlight the need for antimicrobial products, provide an overview of testing methods for microorganisms commonly found in healthcare facilities, address the antimicrobial effect mechanism, and discuss the performance details of CYROLITE® Protect.
CYROLITE® Protect, the latest addition to Evonik Cyro LLC’s CYROLITE® product line, is an acrylic-based multipolymer compound that provides antimicrobial capabilities against a variety of microorganisms commonly found in healthcare facilities.

Dr. Zhu received her Ph.D in Polymer Science and Engineering in 1988 from East China University of Science and Technology. She has 14 years academic experience in polymer structure-property relationship and characterization of different polymers. Her area of expertise within the last 16 years is in new product development from conceptualization to commercialization including idea generation, feasibility assessment, intellectual property analysis, formulation development, design of experiment and scale up.
The Polymers in Medical Applications two-day Conference focuses on the newest trends and technical advances in the field of medical devices relating to Polymetric Materials. The conference engages medical device producers, molders of sub-assemblies, plastic and additive suppliers, equipment and prototype designers, and regulatory professionals throughout the healthcare industry.
