Committed Employees Close To Working 2 Million Hours Safely At Facility
Employees at Evonik Degussa Corporation’s Borger, Texas, site have achieved an extraordinary safety milestone: working more than a decade - nearly 2 million hours - without experiencing a Lost Time Accident (LTA).
Going more than a decade without a LTA - a work related personal injury resulting in at least one day off from the job - demonstrates that safety, quality and production continue to be a primary focus of employees at Evonik’s Borger site, said Jack L. Clem, a Senior Vice President & General Manager of Evonik’s Carbon Black Business. “I congratulate each and every employee at the Borger facility for this significant and remarkable accomplishment,” said Clem. “Our Borger employees continue to set an example that all of us must strive to attain.”
Employees at the Borger site continue to demonstrate leadership in safety and leadership in productivity every day, said Steve Hubertus, Borger plant manager, who also applauded the Evonik Borger team. “Ten years without a Lost Time Accident is an incredible milestone,” Hubertus added. “It is an extraordinary achievement for a production facility. I congratulate all our employees for always putting safety first.”
Hubertus added that while breaking records is good, Evonik’s focus remains on getting employees home safely every day. “Our commitment to safety is unswerving,” he said. “Safety is everyone’s responsibility. We work diligently to create a safe workplace at every Evonik site. We are extremely proud of our workforce in Borger. Every employee has worked tirelessly to achieve this significant safety milestone.”
Evonik’s Borger facility has always been a trendsetter in the industry. Four years ago, it became one of the first carbon black plants in North America to successfully demonstrate compliance to the International Organization of Standardization (ISO) 14001:2004 Environmental Standard.
