Evonik Cyro’s Osceola Plant Donates $25,000 To Junior Auxiliary

OSCEOLA, Ark., October 17, 2011

Evonik Cyro LLC, one of the largest employers in the area, is donating $25,000 over five years to the Junior Auxiliary of Osceola, a non-profit organization that assists children through service and educational projects.

The gift was announced during ceremonies Saturday to celebrate 25 years of manufacturing excellence at Evonik Cyro’s plant on 1500 Richard Prewitt Drive.

Jennifer Weaver, president of the Junior Auxiliary of Osceola, said the organization was thrilled with the donation, noting that the funds will help families during the holiday season, assist qualified local students attend college, and teach elementary school children good hygiene.

“Evonik Cyro has always been a big supporter of the Junior Auxiliary of Osceola and for that we are eternally grateful,” said Weaver. “Our volunteers try to help out those less fortunate, particularly during these difficult economic times, and now we can do more thanks to Evonik Cyro’s generosity. We are deeply grateful for this $25,000 donation.”

John Rolando, President of Evonik Performance Polymers North America, praised the Junior Auxiliary, noting that the organization has had a positive effect in the community for a number of years, particularly with its Angel Tree program that helps less fortunate families in South Mississippi County to give their children a special Yuletide holiday.

“At Evonik Cyro, we strongly believe in giving back to the communities in which we live, work and play,” Rolando continued. “Like the Junior Auxiliary, we want children who otherwise might not have a present under the tree to have a happy holiday season. And we believe that furthering the education of our children is the heart of a bright future for us all.”

Jim Bunn, Evonik’s Osceola plant manager, added that Evonik continually supports the community with donations and with employees who volunteer their time to participate in the Junior Auxiliary as well as other notable organizations.

“We are proud to support the unique programs offered by the Junior Auxiliary of Osceola,” said Bunn. “In addition to providing scholarship and gifts to deserving children at the holidays, the Junior Auxiliary has a program that teaches elementary school children how to properly wash their hands for good hygiene. The children wash with a special soap and then a black light is shone over their hands. The germs left actually glow so they can see how well they got rid of germs. It makes quite an impression and reduces illnesses. The Junior Auxiliary has provided valuable support to the Osceola /South Mississippi County for decades. They are the true angels of our community.”
