Evonik Establishes Group To Enhance Product Offerings For Oil, Gas Industries

Strategic Move Sharpens Company’s Focus On International Energy Markets

Evonik Degussa Corporation has formed the Evonik Oil & Gas Group (EOGG) in Houston, Texas, to boost the resource-efficiency of products for the oil and gas industries and to facilitate the company’s growth within these expanding markets.

“This is a very exciting time for Evonik and the oil and gas industries,” said Ted Pettijohn, Evonik’s senior vice president of growth and development at Evonik Degussa Corporation. “The oil and gas industries are rapidly growing and demand for chemicals and plastics within these sectors reflect this trend. As one of the world’s leading specialty chemicals companies, we can add a lot of value to these markets. We have identified several of our products such as friction reducers, corrosion inhibitors, and viscosity modifiers for drilling fluids and flexible piping, which can be used to create more resource-efficient and sustainable applications for the oil and gas industries.”

The group will be led by Ted Pettijohn and Andy Hayes, who was named director of the EOGG. Other members of the team include Application Managers Cruise Jones and Robert Pollack.

Hayes has over 15 years of commercial sales and marketing experience in the petrochemical, oil and gas industries; the last six years were with United Initiators, previously called Degussa Initiators.

Jones brings over 24 years of experience as an oilfield chemist working for seven years at ExxonMobil and 17 years at Nalco Energy Services.

Pollack has over 17 years of experience as a product development and technical sales support specialist in formulated drilling fluids and production chemicals at Lubrizol, Baker Petrolite and M-I Swaco.

“Our new team has more than 50 years of combined experience in the oil and gas industries,” said Tom Bates, president of Evonik Degussa Corporation. “There are numerous opportunities for our products, especially in stimulation chemicals, drilling fluids, and production chemicals, to positively impact these growing markets. I am very confident in the abilities of the EOGG to develop innovative, cost-effective and resource-efficient products for the oil and gas industries.”
