Evonik Tippecanoe Laboratories Donates $5,200 to Local Teachers

Company Continues Educational Grant Program Spanning Nearly Two Decades

Evonik Corporation’s Lafayette, Ind., site has awarded $5,200 in grants to teachers from Tippecanoe County schools under the Partners in Education program to fund science and math projects in the 2016-2017 school year.

“We are grateful for Evonik’s continued support of education in the community,” says TSC Superintendent Dr. Scott Hanback. “The projects funded by the Partners in Education program help our students continue developing and excelling in math and science. The creative nature of these projects enhances the classroom experience by offering students fun and unique ways to learn.”

Evonik’s contribution to the local school systems marks the 21st consecutive year teachers in the community were awarded grants under the Partners in Education program.

“We are proud to support the Partners in Education program and help fund these math and science initiatives,” said Clive Whiteside, vice president and manager of Evonik’s Lafayette site. “Math and science form the basis for what we do at Evonik and we look to the Partners in Education program to foster an interest in those subjects and help develop the next generation of scientists and technicians.”

The Partners in Education awards were presented to:

  • Happy Hollow Elementary School - Kathryn Dodds
  • Central Catholic Jr. Sr. High School - Theresa Lin
  • West Lafayette Jr. Sr. High School - Minshen Ho
  • Burnett Creek Elementary School - Kara Bronikowski, Terri Fisher, Katie Luebcke, Jennifer Koning and Jo Ellen Hayworth
  • Burnett Creek Elementary School – Kara Meyer, Beth Allen, Jessica Kratzberg, Kelli Besonen, Kelly Stockton, Ashley Kahn, Tiffani Pettit

The grants under Partners in Education range in value from $100-$1,000 and are awarded to the teachers who demonstrate the most creative and impactful project plans.

The Partners in Education program helps teachers and students in numerous ways. In addition, Evonik Tippecanoe Laboratories employees host the Wizard Science program where they provide classroom science demonstrations, develop activities for teachers, and judge science projects.

The Partners in Education program is overseen by a committee of educators, school administrators and Evonik employees.
