Evonik’s Tippecanoe Laboratories Achieves Esteemed ACC RC 14001 Certification
Company Demonstrates Enhanced Performance In Management and Operations
Evonik Degussa Corporation’s Tippecanoe Laboratories has received the American Chemistry Council’s Responsible Care (RC) 14001 certification for enhanced performance in environmental, health, safety and security management systems.
The facility received the recognition after an extensive series of audits of its operations by UL DQSInc., an independent, third party firm that specializes in rigid technical and industry-specific assessments of companies. The auditors recommended the certification after examining the company’s performance in key areas such as community awareness and emergency response, security, safe product distribution, employee health and security, pollution prevention, process safety, and product stewardship.
“This is a very important milestone for management and employees at Tippecanoe Laboratories. It demonstrates diligent efforts to operate our facilities in a safe and environmentally protective manner,” said Gerwin Specka, Tippecanoe site manager.
RC 14001 is a revolutionary environmental, health, safety and security standard that integrates elements of the American Chemistry Council’s Responsible Care with the environmental management system guidelines established by the International Organization for Standardization.
Specka said it is incredibly gratifying and rewarding when an organization such as the UL DQS Inc. recognizes the commitment Evonik employees and management have to the community. Safety and environmental awareness is the foundation for Evonik’s operations and corporate culture, said Specka.

Tippecanoe Laboratories manufactures a variety of specialty chemicals for ingredients in pharmaceutical medications that treat cancer, osteoporosis, lymphoma and fibromyalgia.
