Evonik Tippecanoe Laboratories Donates $9,500 To Local Teachers

Evonik Corporation’s Lafayette, Ind., site has donated $9,500 in grants to teachers from Tippecanoe County schools under the Partners In Education program to fund science and math projects in the 2015-2016 school year.

“We are very thankful for Evonik’s continued support of education in the community,” says Dr. Scott Hanback, superintendent of Tippecanoe School Corporation, one of the school systems receiving the grants. “The projects funded by the Partners In Education program help our students continue developing and excelling in math and science. The creative nature of these projects enhances the classroom experience by offering students fun and unique ways to learn.”

Evonik’s contribution to the local school systems marks the 20th consecutive year teachers in the community were awarded grants under the Partners In Education program.

“At Evonik, we recognize the need to help cultivate and enhance young people’s exposure to science and math, and The Partners In Education program gives us a great way to do that,” said Clive Whiteside, vice president and manager of Evonik’s Lafayette site. “Evonik is glad to participate with the Partners In Education program, as we value our community partnerships and look to participate in a meaningful way. In particular, the opportunity for us to impact education is a natural fit.

The grants under Partners In Education range in value from $100-$1,000 and are awarded to the teachers who demonstrate the most creative and impactful project plans.

The Partners In Education program helps teachers and students in numerous ways. In addition, Evonik Tippecanoe Laboratories employees host the Wizard Science program where they provide classroom science demonstrations, develop activities for teachers, and judge science projects.

The Partners In Education program is overseen by a committee of educators, school administrators and Evonik employees.

Evonik is a specialty chemical company employing hundreds of residents from Tippecanoe County and produces pharmaceutical ingredients used in the formulation of drugs including oncology therapies and veterinary medications.
