Evonik Foams’ SOLCOUSTIC™ Duct Liner Earns GREENGUARD Certification
Designation Cites Company’s Commitment to Improving Indoor Air Quality
Evonik Foams’ SOLCOUSTIC™ Duct Liner, a high performance, non-fibrous duct liner with excellent acoustic absorption properties, has been GREENGUARD Children & SchoolsSM certified by the GREENGUARD Environmental Institute (GEI).
"Evonik Foams should be commended for its dedication to improving indoor air quality by providing fiber-free, low-emitting products,” said Dr. Marilyn Black, founder of the GREENGUARD Environmental Institute. “Products such as Evonik Foams’ SOLCOUSTIC™ duct liner are certified by GEI so building owners can be assured the products they use in their facilities are healthy for indoor environments.”
Products certified to the GREENGUARD Children & Schools certification have been tested for their chemical emissions performance and were found to meet or be below the State of California’s Department of Health Services Standard Practice (CA Section 01350) requirements. CA Section 01350 covers key environmental performance issues related to the selection and handling of building materials. By complying with this specification, the GREENGUARD Children & Schools certification requires products meet stricter emissions limits for formaldehyde, phthalates, fine respirable particles and other volatile organic compounds.
The GREENGUARD Environmental Institute is internationally recognized for evaluating product emissions and certifying products that meet stringent indoor air quality criteria. Products undergo rigorous, third-party testing to determine their impact on indoor air pollution with requirements for ongoing verification.
Robert Tait, General Manager of Evonik Foams, said the company is extremely pleased with this recognition from GREENGUARD. “We have a deep commitment to providing safe, high performance insulation products to a variety of industries,” he said. “The GREENGUARD Children & Schools certification for SOLCOUSTIC™ liner is just one more way we are demonstrating this commitment.”
Evonik Foam’s SOLCOUSTIC™ Liner is used as an acoustical and thermal lining for sheet metal plenums and ducts in air conditioning, heating, and ventilating systems with service temperatures up to 250ºF (121ºC). With comparable performance to fibrous liners, it is a perfect choice for schools and other commercial buildings that require an environmentally safe, fiber-free environment.
