Evonik Celebrates Opening Of Its New Parsippany Building

Company Has Ribbon Cutting Ceremony For 150,000 Square Foot Facility

Evonik Degussa Corporation, a specialty chemical company that makes a variety of products including ingredients for environmentally-friendly tires as well as active pharmaceutical ingredients, today dedicated its new administrative center at 299 Jefferson Road in Parsippany.

Congressman Rodney Frelinghuysen, Evonik Industries AG Board Member Patrik Wohlhauser, Evonik Degussa Corporation President Tom Bates and Parsippany Mayor James Barberio were among the dignitaries who were scheduled to attend the ceremonies along with over 300 Evonik Degussa Corporation employees.

“Evonik has called New Jersey home for many years and we plan to continue growing our business,” said Bates. “Thanks to Governor Christie and his administration – and the hard work and dedication of Congressman Frelinghuysen - we can do so. New Jersey is becoming more business friendly, which is good for all corporations here, those planning to relocate to the Garden State and all residents. Evonik and New Jersey will continue to be Partners in Prosperity for years to come.”

Evonik Industries AG Board Member Wohlhauser noted that New Jersey’s state flower is the purple violet – the same shade as Evonik Industries AG corporate colors. “What you probably don’t know is centuries ago, the settlers here used the flower not only for food but as a base for perfumes, he continued. “So you see, Parsippany was home to a chemical industry even back in the 1700s and 1800s!”

Evonik signed a long-term lease with Vision Equities for the approximately 150,500 square feet. In support of Evonik’s long standing commitment to the environment, a new energy efficient heating and ventilation system was installed in the building to reduce the company’s carbon footprint.

Bates noted that before selecting the three-story structure in Parsippany, Evonik evaluated numerous alternatives, including moving out of New Jersey. The decision to remain in the Garden State was made for a variety of reasons, he added, including favorable economics, a highly educated workforce, and Parsippany’s excellent transportation and communication links.

Evonik Degussa Corporation employs over 4,000 employees and has 26 manufacturing sites and numerous offices/labs/warehouses/distribution centers in North America. Of the Corporation’s 26 manufacturing sites, 21 are in the U.S. and five are in Canada.
