Evonik Contributes $10,000 To Parsippany Emergency Response Departments

Funds Will Aid Hurricane Sandy Recovery Efforts

Following Hurricane Sandy’s destruction, Evonik Corporation has donated $5,000 to the Parsippany Volunteer Ambulance Squad and $5,000 to the Parsippany Rescue & Recovery Unit.

“Our donation is a token of gratitude to the men and women who risked their lives to protect our community and employees,” said Dr. Peter Knopf, vice president and head of regional services, at Parsippany-based Evonik Corporation. “The Parsippany Volunteer Ambulance Squad and the Parsippany Rescue & Recovery Unit played a critical role in ensuring citizens’ safety and providing recovery assistance following Hurricane Sandy. We appreciate their hard work and dedication to our community, and hope Evonik’s donation will help support their continuing efforts. This was a truly devastating storm and our prayers go out to everyone who was affected.”

Hurricane Sandy, the largest tropical storm recorded in the Atlantic, made landfall in the United States on October 29, 2012, with winds of 80 mph. The death toll in the United States is more than 100. Sandy is estimated to have caused billions of dollars in property damage and lost business, making it one of the costliest natural disasters on record in the United States.

“Corporate citizenship is the cornerstone of Evonik’s operations,” said Tom Bates, president of Evonik Corporation. “Evonik is actively involved in helping make the quality of life in local communities better by participating in non-profit, charitable and community organizations. We appreciate the emergency responders’ dedication and commitment to the protection and care of our employees and neighbors. This is our chance to give back to the community.”
