Evonik Honors Award of Excellence Winners at 25th Annual Celebration

Sanford, ME, June 4, 2012

Three Sanford-based employees of Evonik’s Performance Polymer Business Unit, Mattthew Weeman, Brian Sprague and Ellston Smith were recently honored as 25th Year Award of Excellence winners with an all expense-paid weekend in New York City on April 13-15, 2012.

The Matt Taylor Award of Excellence, initiated in 1987, is the highest, most prestigious recognition an employee of Evonik’s Performance Polymers Business Unit can earn. Throughout the last 25 years, this program has recognized 309 employees who have proactively contributed to key areas of the business. These recipients represent the principles and values to which Evonik is committed. These include never-ending quality improvement, teamwork and meticulous attention to detail.

Matthew Weeman, with seven years of service, is Maintenance Leadhand at Evonik’s Sanford facility on 1796 Main Street. Brian Sprague is a 32-year veteran and Color Lab Technician. Ellston Smith, Warehouse Leadhand, has been with Evonik Cyro for 33 years. Both Sprague and Smith have won the Award of Excellence twice. These employees’ outstanding performance and current accomplishments have contributed significantly to Evonik’s success.
